Having had the benefit of handling hundreds and hundreds of newborn babies, as well as having had my own, here’s my recommendations on practical, but somewhat unusual “must-haves” for a new baby, based on my experiences of what new babies seem to like and dislike. I haven’t included the more usual obvious items, unless there’s a good reason to call them out or unless I’ve got a specific brand / model recommendation.

WHAT'S YOUR (NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY) STYLE?
As anyone with children will tell you, newborn babies change so quickly in those their first few days and weeks. If you’re planning to capture those first moments with a specialist newborn photographer, you might want to think about your style, and that of the photographer you are considering.
Generally speaking, there are two genres of newborn photography: “posed” and “lifestyle.” Read on to find out more about the differences and which may suit you better.
